Meals on Wheels

The mission of Mountain Meals on Wheels is to provide healthy and nutritious meals to adults of any age who are homebound and unable to prepare their own meals due to health issues. Meals are prepared in a commercial kitchen located at the Summit County Community & Senior Center. Meats are delivered in insulated bags to ensure a safe temperature is maintained. This program is heavily reliant on volunteer drivers, who deliver meals Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays around noon. Drivers are required to have their own vehicle, and be able to pass a criminal background check. Medical Transportation

Medical Transportation is a program where volunteer drivers are able to give rides to seniors in the community to medical appointments in Summit County, Eagle County, or to the front range. Drivers are not required to have their own vehicle, as a vehicle will be provided Volunteers for this program must be able to pass a criminal background check. Front Desk Support

This volunteer position contributes to the well-being of seniors 55+ by providing them with information about all of the available services, programs, and educational opportunities that are offered by the Summit County Senior Center and the County. We encourage and support them to live active, independent and socially enriching lives while having fun. If you are interested in this position, please contact Rob at rob.rumrill@summitcountyco.gov. This is a year round volunteer opportunity.

50+ Winter Games

The Summit County 50+ Winter Games take place each February in Summit County, Colorado, offering older adults from across the country the opportunity to compete in alpine, Nordic and ice skating events. The games also serve as a fundraiser for Summit County Senior Citizens, Inc. If you are interested in volunteering in preparation, or during the events, please email Rob at rob.rumrill@summitcountyco.gov.

Rummage Sale

The Rummage Sale is an annual sale at the Senior Center that usually takes place on the last weekend in July. If you are interested in preparation, or during this event, please email rob.rumrill@summitcountyco.gov.

Margarita Booth

The Margarita Booth happens in the summer during the Frisco BBQ challenge, 4th of July celebration, where seniors set up a booth and sell margarita’s with proceeds going to the Senior Center. If interested, there will be a sign up at the front desk of the Senior Center when it gets closer.

Kitchen Aide

This volunteer position if for those who enjoy being in the kitchen and would like to work side by side with the chef to prepare meals for the community. Duties and responsibilities include in depth meal preparation, meal service and clean up, and assistance with maintaining the overall cleanliness of the kitchen. Opportunities for service are always available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and can range to Wednesday and Friday depending on additional catering events. Neighbors Helping Neighbors

(NHN of Summit County)

Seniors, especially those living alone but also couples, sometimes have temporary medical situations and need help getting to and from doctors’ appointments, grocery shopping, mail pickup, dog walking, etc.  NHN is a group of senior volunteers that understands, who are willing to be available to help others and are comforted to know there is a group of fellow seniors they, too, can reach out to when they may need help.
